"Una ricerca britannica ha dimostrato che i pazienti che vivono in aree con maggiore esposizione al sole necessitano di una quantità maggiore di tossina botulinica di tipo A nella glabella, ovvero la parte inferiore della fronte, per raggiungere il miglior risultato possibile. Quello dell'impatto del clima anche sulla medicina estetica è un tema da approfondire e studiare nel dettaglio", afferma Giovanni Salti, presidente dell'Aiteb, Associazione italiana terapia estetica e botulino. Lo studio che commenta è pubblicato su 'Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery' e suggerisce la necessità di personalizzare il trattamento tenendo conto anche del fattore sole, osserva lo specialista. "L'intervento alla glabella - ricorda - è estremamente popolare, quindi comprendere come il clima possa influenzare il comportamento muscolare e di conseguenza il dosaggio del trattamento è fondamentale per fornire risultati ottimali ai nostri pazienti".La ricerca inglese, condotta del Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery dello Stoke Mandeville Hospital di Aylesbury, "ha analizzato 523 donne di età compresa tra i 35 e i 60 anni, sottoposte a trattamenti di tossina botulinica A alla glabella tra il 2012 e il 2019 in due centri, uno a Malta e uno nel Regno Unito: 292 donne a Malta sono state trattate durante l'estate, periodo di maggiore esposizione al sole, mentre 231 donne nel Regno Unito hanno ricevuto il trattamento durante l'inverno, quando l'esposizione al sole è minore", riporta Salti. "Sebbene la differenza non sia statisticamente significativa - precisa - la dose media aggiuntiva per raggiungere la paralisi completa era più alta tra le donne esposte al sole. Protocolli troppo rigidi sulle dosi e sulla distribuzione - avverte il presidente - potrebbero portare a trattamenti meno efficaci per le donne che vivono in Paesi con un clima maggiormente soleggiato.
