(askanews) - L'India ha effettuato con successo il primo test senza equipaggio della navetta che verrà utilizzata per le prossime missioni orbitali, ultima pietra miliare per le sue ambizioni spaziali.Il lancio del razzo è stato posticipato di due ore a causa del maltempo e di un problema a un motore. Nonostante il ritardo, tuttavia, il test di sabato 21 ottobre 2023 è riuscito a mettere alla prova il sistema di fuga di emergenza del modulo equipaggio che, come previsto, si è separato dal razzo e, appeso ai paracadute, ha effettuato un ammaraggio in sicurezza circa 10 minuti dopo il lancio. La missione Gaganyaan ("Skycraft") invierà tre astronauti nell'orbita bassa terrestre (Leo) nel 2025, un importante passo avanti per le capacità tecniche dell'Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). "Avremo presto ulteriori analisi e dati di questa missione sul recupero del modulo equipaggio - ha spiegato Sreedhara Somanath, chairman dell'ISRO dicendosi pienamente soddisfatto del successo - stiamo ricevendo in diretta le immagini provenienti dal mare, dalle telecamere dei droni che stanno riprendendo il sito d'ammaraggio".L'ISRO condurrà una serie di iulteriori 20 test importanti, tra cui il trasporto di un robot nello spazio, prima della missione con equipaggio prevista nel 2025. Gaganyaan, però, sarà la prima del suo genere per l'India che prevede di mandare i propri astronauti in orbita per almeno tre giorni.
