(Adnkronos Salute) - "Almeno 40 atleti" partecipanti alle Olimpiadi di Parigi 2024 sono risultati positivi al Covid. E' quanto ha riferito l'epidemiologa Maria Van Kerkhove, che all'Organizzazione mondiale della sanità (Oms) guida la Preparazione e prevenzione contro epidemie e pandemie. "Non sorprende vedere atleti infetti, perché il virus circola abbastanza rapidamente in altri Paesi", ha evidenziato l'esperta durante una conferenza stampa a Ginevra, secondo quanto riporta il giornale sportivo francese 'L'Équipe', insieme ad altre testate. "Negli ultimi mesi, molti Paesi hanno sperimentato focolai di Covid, anche alle Olimpiadi almeno 40 atleti sono risultati positivi", ha detto Van Kerkhove sottolineando anche che il Comitato Olimpico, insieme all'Oms, ha "esaminato tutti i diversi approcci che devono essere messi in atto" in occasione di eventi affollati come i Giochi, e ha intrapreso "i passi giusti". Resta il fatto che il virus Sars-CoV-2 è "ancora molto presente" nel mondo.
