La prevenzione incendio va fatta utilizzando uomini e mezzi adeguati che non prevedano la distruzione o la manomissione del bosco» La lettera aperta di FRANCO PEDROTTI, botanicoValentina Venturi, del Gufi (Gruppo Unitario per le Foreste Italiane), ci invia questa lettera aperta del professor Franco Pedrotti che volentieri pubblichiamo integralmenteL’ENTE AUTONOMO Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo Lazio e Molise ha preso la decisione di effettuare un taglio di pini nella pineta di Villetta Barrea. Viene subito da dire che un parco nazionale ha per scopo quello di proteggere gli alberi e non di tagliarli. La pineta di Villetta Barrea è un bosco residuo e relitto, di grande interesse fitogeografico, poiché rappresenta l’ultimo frammento di una pineta che in passato era molto diffusa in tutto l’Appennino centrale, come risulta dalle analisi polliniche eseguite. In un Parco Nazionale si dovrebbero sempre prevedere alcune aree ove il bosco è lasciato al suo libero sviluppo, in modo da raggiungere la fase ecologica della fluttuazione. In questo caso gli alberi completano nello stesso punto il loro ciclo vitale, dal seme alla vetustà. Questa forma di gestione dovrebbe essere applicata anche alla pineta di Villetta Barrea. Si può anche pensare ad una forma di gestione più articolata della pineta, sempre che non comporti l’eliminazione di porzioni della stessa. In nessun caso è ammissibile il taglio, né lo sfoltimento giustificato da prevenzione incendio. La prevenzione incendio va fatta utilizzando uomini e mezzi adeguati che non prevedano la distruzione o la manomissione del bosco, altrimenti distruggiamo ciò che invece vorremmo tutelare. Si chiede pertanto che il Parco voglia ripensare e sospendere definitivamente questa insensata decisione, ancor più che questa pineta rappresenta un alto valore ecologico, storico, culturale e botanico. Essa mostra una importante rinnovazione di pino e latifoglie, nonché una struttura forestale ormai notevole.
