Le autorità dell'Oklahoma hanno messo in guardia dal rischio di incendi domestici pubblicando le immagini dell'incidente avvenuto lo scorso maggio. Nel dettaglio i vigili del fuoco di Tulsa (Oklahoma) hanno diffuso un video che mostra una casa che prende fuoco dopo che un cane ha masticato la batteria di un telefono. Nel video sono presenti nel soggiorno due cani e un gatto. Uno dei cani tiene in bocca una batteria agli ioni di litio utilizzata per caricare i cellulari. Qualche istante dopo averlo masticato, la batteria esplode e prende fuoco, provocando un incendio. I Vigili del Fuoco di Tulsa sperano che il video serva da monito al pubblico, sottolineando l'importanza di conservare le batterie fuori dalla portata di bambini e animali domestici. Nel comunicato stampa diffuso anche sui social, hanno: "I vigili del fuoco di tutto il paese stanno assistendo a incendi legati a queste batterie e vogliamo che il pubblico sia informato sull'uso, sullo stoccaggio sicuro e sul corretto smaltimento di queste batterie potenzialmente pericolose". Fortunatamente gli animali sono riusciti a fuggire dalla casa durante l'incendio grazie ad una porta per cani. Anche la famiglia presente è stata evacuata in sicurezza. Questa situazione evidenzia i potenziali rischi associati alle batterie agli ioni di litio e l’importanza di adottare misure precauzionali per evitare tali incidenti.
