Per dissetarsi in questi giorni di caldo intenso via libera alle bibite fai da te, in grado di conciliare il bisogno di idratarsi e recuperare sali minerali con il gusto di bevande che soddisfano anche il palato. A promuoverle Ciro Vestita, medico nutrizionista, fitoterapeuta e autore di diversi libri di alimentazione. "Bere acqua in buona quantità è importantissimo in questi giorni. Ma può servire anche un piccolo aiuto per recuperare i nutrienti perduti con la traspirazione. In particolare è importante 'ripristinare' potassio e magnesio e, in questo, frutta e ortaggi sono fondamentali". E la scienza lo conferma. "Uno studio inglese di 2 anni fa sui ciclisti - continua - ha dimostrato che il succo delle barbabietole rosse è un potente integratore, tanto da aumentare le performance di questi sportivi e rendere più rapido il recupero. Quando si suda molto, quindi, un centrifugato del genere aiuta di sicuro la ripresa". Un frutto particolarmente utile in questo periodo è "la banana. Nel tennis, quando la partita arriva al quinto set chiunque, anche i più grandi tennisti, hanno esaurito praticamente le riserve energetiche. E cosa fanno? Non bevono cose strane, prendono semplicemente dei pezzetti di banana sapendo bene che anche una piccola quantità riesce a dare potassio, magnesio e altri minerali. Elementi utili con il grande caldo. Un frullato delle prime mele (o un altro frutto) a cui si aggiunge la banana rappresenta quindi una buona scelta per ricaricarsi". Ottimo anche il "succo di pomodoro, ricco di sali minerali". L'uva, ormai in arrivo, "è perfetta per l'ampeloterapia (da ampelos, vite) il succo d'uva, infatti, ha alcune peculiarità che lo avvicinano al latte materno, è energizzante e sicuro: berne un bicchiere al mattino e al pomeriggio vuol dire avere energia, dissetarsi e prendere tanti sali minerali e persino antibiotici naturali. Il succo d'uva ha infatti capacità disinfettante". Il limone è un altro alleato. "Mettere mezzo limone a pezzi in una caraffa d'acqua, come d'abitudine in alcune Regioni meridionali, oltre a dare gusto all'acqua dà anche sali minerali che si liberano grazie al succo dell'agrume". Sapore a parte, inutile invece, mettere nell'acqua pezzi di zenzero, barbabietola o frutti vari nell'acqua, come si usa sempre di più. "Nell'acqua fredda sarebbero necesseri giorni di macerazione per liberare i principi attivi. Va bene per il gusto ma, per il resto, è solo una moda". Promosso anche il tè freddo fatto a casa, "in particolare quello verde che è stato studiato anche per le proprietà anti-cancro. Aggiungendo succo di limone lo rendiamo ancora più salutare. E se lo vogliamo più dolce nessun problema: non vanno nemmeno demonizzate piccole quantità di zucchero". Altra bibita sana e gradevole si può ottenere "centrifugando il cocomero, non solo la parte rossa, ma anche la parte bianca, quella sotto la polpa che si chiama albedo e che contiene steroli che abbassano la colesterolemia. Ricco di sali minerali anche il succo di melone".
