Caffè, tè, acqua e zucchero, bibite gasate eccitanti sono i rimedi della nonna a cui spesso si fa ricorso per 'rianimarsi'. Il problema è che "sostanzialmente queste soluzioni non hanno molto senso", spiega all'Adnkronos Salute Giorgio Sesti, presidente della Società italiana di medicina interna (Sime). "In genere, infatti, siamo spossati perché abbiamo perso più liquidi con la sudorazione quindi il primo rimedio è reidratarsi nel modo giusto, evitando i 'falsi amici', come le bevande zuccherate ed eccitanti". E quando la traspirazione è cospicua, "ciò significa che c'è anche una notevole perdita di sali minerali, può essere utile fare un'integrazione, anche utilizzando le bibite già pronte in commercio che usano gli sportivi oppure le bustine da sciogliere nel bicchiere". Altre cose "non servono. Il caffè, per esempio: una grandissima bevanda, certo, ma se si abusa si rischia la tachicardia perché è un'eccitante, quindi l'eccesso può far male. Soprattutto con il caldo - ammonisce l'esperto - perché l'abbassamento della pressione fa rispondere il cuore con un aumento della frequenza cardiaca, e se ci aggiungiamo l'effetto del caffè facciamo sforzare di più il muscolo cardiaco: il cuore si contrae più frequentemente e quindi fa più sforzi". Sarebbe meglio dunque "non esagerare con caffè freddi, granite, ma anche con il tè (la teina è della stessa famiglia della caffeina)". L'idea di ricorrere all'espresso quando si ha la pressione bassa "non è fondata", puntualizza Sesti. "La pressione - aggiunge - è troppo bassa con il caldo a causa della vasodilatazione. Se si vuole aumentare la pressione basta seguire gli sportivi e raffreddare il corpo. Chi fa sport di fatica come i maratoneti o i ciclisti usa sacchette di ghiaccio che servono esattamente per abbassare la temperatura corporea. Nella vita quotidiana basta mettere le mani sotto il rubinetto dell'acqua fredda, sciacquare il viso, mettere i piedi a mollo, stare in ambiente refrigerato o fare una doccia fredda", consiglia il medico internista. Diverso se alla spossatezza si accompagnano i crampi, "segno di perdita di sali da reintegrare". L'energia, infine, si recupera anche a tavola, ma in questo caso l'obiettivo deve essere far faticare meno l'organismo. "Una bistecca fa consumare un sacco di calorie perché richiede tanto lavoro per la digestione, sottrae il sangue indirizzandolo a livello intestinale anziché al cuore, al cervello.
