A dirlo è stato stamani KhalidArslan, di 26 anni, pachistano, nel corso del processo in corsoa Crotone, nel quale è imputato perché ritenuto uno degliscafisti.Nel corso del suo esame, Khalid ha indicato il presuntoscafista che si sarebbe allontanato mostrando una fotografiatratta da un video. "Dopo che si è rotta la prima barca sullaquale c'erano due siriani - ha detto - è arrivata la secondasulla quale siamo saliti. L'equipaggio era di due siriani e treturchi. Avete arrestato me che ho pagato il viaggio ed hoviaggiato come passeggero, ma avete lasciato libero questosiriano che ho visto andare a riparare il motore più volte, eralui che stava sulla prima barca e che contava le persone ecomunicava con gli altri scafisti Guler Bayram (deceduto nelnaufragio ndr), Gun Ufuk" (già condannato in abbreviato a 20anni, ndr). Lui è scappato".L'uomo ha anche rivelato di aver sentito uno dei siriani, nelcorso della navigazione, dire che ci sarebbe stata una macchinasulla spiaggia per prelevarli: "Bayram e Ufuk volevano riportarela barca in Turchia, ma questo siriano e l'altro arrestato aLecce (Mohamed Abdessalem, anche lui condannato a 20 anni inabbreviato, ndr) hanno telefonato in Turchia per fare arrivareuna macchina per la fuga".Khalid Arslan, poi, si è messo a piangere quando ha visto ilvideo del naufragio girato dai pescatori crotonesi che sitrovavano sulla spiaggia. In quelle immagini c'è anche lui cheva in acqua a salvare una persona: "Il pescatore mi diceva ditornare indietro, ma io sono andato a prendere persone. Ho toltotante persone, ma anche molti cadaveri dal mare. Se io fossistato lo scafista sarei scappato".Riguardo alle accuse di aver collaborato con gli scafisti ildifensore di Khalid, l'avvocato Salvatore Perri, ha mostrato laricevuta del pagamento ed anche il prestito che uno zio avevafatto al padre dell'uomo per pagare il viaggio, ed anche deivideo. "Ho pagato la quota del viaggio come tutti - ha dettoKhalid -. Siccome io parlo il turco gli afgani che erano nellabarca mi hanno chiesto di fare da traduttore per chiedere dipoter andare in coperta quando qualcuno stava male. Io non homai collaborato con loro. C'è un video in cui sono al timone, malo hanno fatto tutti come un selfie: il timone, si vede, erabloccato: non guidavo la nave. Era solo per una foto.
