Un modello di eccellenza riconosciuto nel panorama mondiale proprio per la sua capacità di mettere in rete tra loro competenze e professionalità diverse in un network trasversale che, partendo dalla medicina veterinaria, arriva a individuare soluzioni innovative per la difesa della salute umana attraverso un approccio One Health lungo tutta la filiera."La Rete degli Istituti Zooprofilattici rappresenta un unicum a livello globale, per due ragioni - spiega Nicola D'Alterio, Rete degli Istituti Zooprofilattici e direttore dell'IZS Abruzzo e Molise -. La prima: è una rete diffusa su tutto il territorio, con dieci sedi centrali e più di 90 sedi periferiche distribuite in quasi tutte le province italiane. La seconda ragione è che questa rete è alle dipendenze del Ministero della Salute. Questa è una visione molto importante per garantire la One Health e per garantire il flusso delle informazioni tra il mondo della medicina e il mondo della veterinaria che come abbiamo visto sono molto correlati". Sono oltre 20 milioni le analisi di laboratorio effettuate ogni anno dagli oltre 4 mila professionisti (tra medici veterinari, chimici, biologi, ricercatori e personale tecnico-amministrativo) che lavorano nelle sedi centrali e periferice della Rete. La sfida è duplice: da un lato, assicurare il controllo sui cibi che quotidianamente arrivano sulle nostre tavole, e dall'altro garantire un monitoraggio costante e puntuale sotto il profilo della sorveglianza epidemiologica. Un contributo che è si è rivelato decisivo negli anni del Covid e che resta fondamentale per fronteggiare emergenze come la Peste Suina Africana, l'Influenza Aviaria e la West Nile."Solo collaborando con una multidisciplinarietà, riusciremo a garantire la salute del cittadino.
