Sul rapporto sullo Stato di diritto, ha precisato, "la lettera che io ho inviato non è una risposta alla Commissione europea o a un momento di frizione con la Commissione europea, è una riflessione comune sulla strumentalizzazione che è stata fatta di un documento tecnico nel quale mi corre l'obbligo di ricordare che gli accenti critici non sono della Commissione Europea". Nel rapporto "la Commissione Europea riporta accenti critici di alcuni portatori di interesse, diciamo stakeholder: il Domani, il Fatto Quotidiano, Repubblica...
