(askanews) - Il colonnello dell'Aeronautica Militare Walter Villadei sarà il pilota della navetta Crew Dragon che, a gennaio 2024, porterà sulla Stazione Spaziale Internazionale l'equipaggio della missione AX-3, terza missione privata sull'ISS dell'azienda americana Axiom Space.Una missione speciale sotto tutti i punti di vista anche perché sarà la prima missione spaziale commerciale alla quale prenderà parte, in qualità di Mission Specialist, anche un astronauta professionista dell'Esa, lo svedese Marcus Wandt, protagonista della missione "Muninn", come annunciato dalla stessa Agenzia Spaziale Europea. L'equipaggio di 4 uomini sarà composto, inoltre, dal comandante Michael Lopez-Alegrìa, ex astronauta della Nasa nato a Madrid e dallo specialista di missione turco, Alper Gezeravci. In pratica, l'intero equipaggio è di origini europee."La presenza di un ufficiale italiano a bordo della missione - ha commentato il ministro della Difesa, Guido Crosetto - è un passo fondamentale nello sviluppo della strategia italiana per lo Spazio, in cui la Difesa condivide e supporta lo sforzo delGoverno, delle istituzioni e delle aziende del Paese.
