Abbiamo delle novità vaccinali che sono rappresentate da vaccini contro il virus respiratorio sinciziale (Rsv), ma è comunque importante sostenere tutte le vaccinazioni, quelle presenti nel vecchio calendario e quelle che saranno presenti, speriamo, nel nuovo. E' importante continuare a comunicare e sensibilizzare sull'importanza della vaccinazione antinfluenzale, anti-Covid, anti-Rsv, anti-pneumococco, cioè tutti quei virus e quei microorganismi che, se contratti da persone anziane e fragili, possono impattare in maniera molto severa sulla salute". Così Roberta Siliquini, presidente Società italiana d'igiene, medicina preventiva e sanità pubblica (Siti), all'Adnkronos Salute, oggi a Roma nel corso degli Stati generali dell'assistenza a lungo termine 'Long-Term Care Nine: verso una nuova stagione per l'assistenza agli anziani?', che ogni anno Italia Longeva organizza al ministero della Salute. "Per l'Herpes zoster", ad esempio, "abbiamo già una vaccinazione che funziona molto bene - continua Siliquini - Anche in questo caso, è molto utile agli anziani, ai pazienti fragili e soprattutto ai pazienti oncologici che hanno un abbassamento delle difese immunitarie più elevato di quello fisiologico dell'età anziana". Per il futuro, "l'auspicio credo sia quello di aumentare le coperture vaccinali.
