Soprattutto spero sia oggetto di vera e definitiva riflessione della politica. Della politica tutta o, almeno, di coloro che non ritengono di usare opportunisticamente la giustizia a scopo politico. Mai come in questo caso l'autonomia della politica, la sovranità popolare, il suo finanziamento trasparente, la sua possibilità di indirizzare lo sviluppo e la crescita sono stati al centro del confronto tra la giustizia e il potere sovrano che discende dal popolo" ha aggiunto il politico ligure."I magistrati interpretano le leggi ma la politica quelle leggi le fa. L'autonomia della politica, come quella della giustizia, dovrebbero essere un patrimonio di tutti. Difficile sperare consapevolezza da chi riempie le piazze di luglio (riempie, insomma…), festeggiando l'aiuto arrivato. Ho fiducia in chi crede nella democrazia liberale e spero colga queste vicende come un definitivo campanello che suona per ricordare l'inerzia di troppi anni" ha osservato Toti."Mi sono dimesso, richiamando tutti voi al voto, perché ora tocca ai cittadini decidere invece la sorte della nostra terra: andare avanti con la Liguria protagonista che abbiamo costruito, o consegnarla alla cappa grigia dell'ipocrisia, della cultura del sospetto, dell'immobilismo, della doppia morale capace di oscurare già in questi giorni anche il fulgido sole di agosto. Sarebbe un futuro che, se possibile, appare già peggio del passato che ci siamo lasciati alle spalle" ha continuato."Sono mancato per un po', e soprattutto mi siete mancati tanto.
