La navetta, concepita per alternarsi con la Crew Dragon di Space X per portare astronauti nello Spazio come alternativa alle Soyuz russe, è stata trasportata al Commercial Crew and Cargo Processing Facility della Nasa al Kennedy Space Center di Cape Canaveral, in Florida (Usa) dove verrà preparata in vista del suo primo lancio con equipaggio a bordo verso la Stazione Spaziale Internazionale, previsto a maggio. A bordo due astronauti veterani della Nasa, Barry "Butch" Wilmore e Sunita Williams con Mike Fincke come membro di backup. Voleranno sulla Iss per effettuare dei test della navetta e verificare che tutto funzioni per il meglio, soprattutto le migliorie tecniche apportate dopo le due prove di volo senza equipaggio, la prima nel 2019 e la seconda nel 2022 con attracco alla Iss della navetta.
