(askanews) - La Life Support di Emergency ha effettuato un nuovo soccorso di migranti nel tardo pomeriggio del 9 agosto, dopo quello della notte tra l'8 e il 9 agosto, portando in salvo altri 28 naufraghi in acque internazionali della zona Sar maltese, nel Mediterraneo centrale. Nelle due operazioni sono state soccorse e portate al sicuro a bordo in totale 65 persone.In una nota, Emergency ha spiegato che la segnalazione del secondo caso di imbarcazione in difficoltà è arrivata il 9 agosto intorno alle 10 del mattino e la Life Support, a cui era già stato assegnato Ortona come porto di sbarco dall'MRCC italiano (Maritime Rescue Coordination Center), ha fatto subito richiesta di poter cambiare rotta per recarsi al nuovo caso segnalato. Le autorità hanno accordato l'autorizzazione a ritardare l'arrivo nel porto assegnato. L'imbarcazione, un gommone sovraffollato, inadatto a compiere la traversata del Mediterraneo, è stata individuata dal ponte di comando della Life Support alle 19.45 circa di venerdì 9 agosto.
