(Adnkronos Salute) - "La biopsia liquida è diventata importante anche nel cancro della mammella. In pratica consiste in un prelievo di sangue, quindi non c'è più necessità di fare un prelievo di materiale dal tumore e questo dà un grosso vantaggio alle pazienti. Nel cancro della mammella serve specificatamente in questo campo, ma ci saranno varie e tantissime altre applicazioni, a dimostrare la presenza o l'assenza di una mutazione di un gene che si chiama Esr1". Così all'Adnkronos Salute Saverio Cinieri, presidente Fondazione Aiom e direttore Oncologia medica e Breast Unit ospedale Perrino di Brindisi, in occasione di una conferenza stampa promossa oggi a Roma, con il contributo non condizionante di Menarini Stemline, con esperti di Fondazione Aiom e Fmp (Fondazione per la medicina personalizzata) per chiedere che le nuove ormonoterapie orali siano disponibili anche in Italia. "La mutazione del gene Esr1 è intorno al 30% - spiega Cinieri - ma i dati stanno aumentando man mano che si raffinano le tecniche di laboratorio, quindi potrebbe arrivare anche al 40% in donne affette da cancro della mammella con recettori ormonali positivi che hanno fallito una prima linea di terapia endocrina con inibitori delle cicline e degli inibitori dell'aromatasi. Pertanto, avere la mutazione favorisce l'assunzione del nuovo farmaco elacestrant che ha dato dei risultati importanti in questo campo e che noi stiamo usando in uso compassionevole in Italia perché al momento siamo in attesa dell'autorizzazione da parte di Aifa, che spero avvenga al più presto". La biopsia liquida "ha cambiato la storia dell'oncologia perché, ribadisco, una volta bisognava fare le biopsie del tessuto. Spesso queste donne hanno una patologia solo ossea, e fare una biopsia ossea è impegnativo e più complesso di un esame di un tessuto.
