Il portavoce della Commissione europea, Thomas Regnier:"Le spunte blu non devono, infatti, verificare gli account su X, non devono influenzare o manipolare gli utenti. Quindi l'autenticità deve essere verificabile e deve rispettare il regolamento sui servizi digitali. Questo, secondo una nostra analisi preliminare, non pare il caso", ha spiegato Regnier.Secondo Bruxelles, insomma, gli "account verificati" con "la spunta blu" possono ingannare gli utenti perché chiunque può abbonarsi per ottenere lo status.Sulla pubblicità, inoltre, il social "non fornisce un archivio consultabile e affidabile - denuncia Bruxells - un archivio poco trasparente. X, infine non fornisce ai ricercatori l'accesso ai suoi dati pubblici. La Commissione ha riferito di aver informato X del suo parere preliminare secondo cui viola nei suddetti aspetti le norme del "Digital Services Act".
