Il ministro delle Imprese e del Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, accompagnato dall'ambasciatore Mario Cospito e dal presidente dell'Agenzia spaziale italiana, Teodoro Valente, nel suo intervento ha posto l'accento sulla necessità di dare priorità al trasporto spaziale e all'esplorazione umana e robotica.L'esigenza di riacquisire un'autonomia di accesso allo spazio con adeguati investimenti sugli attuali vettori di lancio Ariane e Vega, fortemente sostenuta proprio da Francia e Italia, è stato il tema più importante al centro del meeting."Per l'Italia - ha detto il ministro Urso - la cooperazione in questi due domini è irrinunciabile. Dobbiamo impegnarci per anticipare al massimo il volo inaugurale di Ariane-6 e il ritorno al volo di Vega-C, così come lo sviluppo del nuovo lanciatore Vega-E".A tal proposito il Consiglio dell'Esa ha deciso di concedere all'italiana Avio - che si è detta pronta a fornire servizi sempre più affidabili e competitivi - l'opportunità di diventare il launch service provider and operator di Vega C, staccandosi da ArianeSpace e di identificare delle rampe di lancio allo spazioporto europeo di Kourou, in Guyana Francese dedicati ai prossimi lanciatori europei, incluso il Vega-E.Il direttore Generale dell'Esa, Joseph Ashbacher che si è collegato anche con il comandante della Stazione spaziale internazionale, il danese Andreas Mogensen, ha confermato che il consiglio ha preso l'impegno di realizzare le future attività spaziali con un'attenzione alla sostenibilità del Pianeta, incoraggiando la digitalizzazione, la decarbonizzazione, l'azione climatica e la sostenibilità ed evidenziando la necessità di coprire i finanziamenti rimanenti per il programma Copernicus.In particolare l'Esa ha evidenziato la necessità di guardare al futuro, lanciando una sfida ai nuovi attori europei che vogliono entrare nel business.È stato infine evidenziato il tema del post-ISS, dove si potrebbero aprire opportunità anche commerciali dal 2030 in poi, soprattutto nell'ambito delle attività del programma lunare Artemis.
