(Adnkronos Salute) - Quanta acqua serve al nostro organismo? "La quantità raccomandata è di circa 2 litri al giorno per le donne e 2,5 litri per gli uomini". Ma un'ampia fetta della popolazione italiana non ci arriva. "In particolare gli anziani in oltre il 40% dei casi" non raggiungono la 'dose' indicata, "con il rischio di un impatto negativo sulla performance fisica e cognitiva, in particolare, ma non solo, in questa popolazione. L'acqua è fondamentale in tutte le fasi della vita, fin dalla gravidanza e dai primi mesi di vita". A dirlo Graziano Onder, coordinatore della segreteria scientifica dell'Istituto superiore di sanità, in occasione della presentazione, oggi a Roma, del primo rapporto elaborato dal Centro nazionale per la sicurezza delle acque (Censia) dell'Iss. "L'acqua, d'altra parte, è essenziale per il benessere del corpo e per la nostra salute: rappresenta circa il 60% del nostro peso corporeo e apporta importanti contributi di elementi minerali che il nostro organismo non è in grado di sintetizzare", aggiunge Onder. Mantenersi ben idratati è fondamentale per la nostra salute ed ancor più in estate - si legge tra le raccomandazioni dell'Iss, focalizzate sulla bella stagione in cui si invita a "prevenire la disidratazione" - quando si tende a perdere più liquidi. Mantenere l'equilibrio idrico del nostro organismo è fondamentale, in quanto l'acqua svolge un ruolo cruciale perché costituisce i fluidi corporei, nonché il mezzo per trasportare nutrimento agli organi ed eliminare le scorie. L'assunzione di liquidi, evitando o quantomeno limitando il consumo di bevande zuccherate e alcoliche, deve aumentare nelle giornate calde, quando si lavora o si fa attività fisica. La disidratazione può essere pericolosa. Infatti in un corpo disidratato il meccanismo della sudorazione viene bloccato per risparmiare l'acqua rimasta nell'organismo, ma la mancata produzione di sudore causa un surriscaldamento organico con ripercussioni negative sul centro termo-regolatorio ipotalamico (colpo di calore). Una scarsa idratazione nelle fasi iniziali causa lievi squilibri dal punto di vista neurologico e fisico, diminuendo il livello del nostre prestazioni intellettive e fisiche, e può quindi determinare spossatezza, nausea e crampi muscolari. Bere acqua deve perciò diventare un'abitudine frequente che anticipa il senso di sete. Infatti la sensazione di sete interviene già quando l'organismo è in fase di deidratazione, tanto più per gli anziani e i bambini, che avvertono molto meno lo stimolo a bere, o anche per adulti nel corso degli sport acquatici come il nuoto, in quanto il 'riflesso di immersione' inibisce i meccanismi che attivano il segnale di bisogno di bere dell'organismo. di Adnkronos   16-07-2024 - 12:58 Link copiato Commenti Leggi la Netiquette
