Si può, forse si deve. E anche dalla cultura dei giornali di quei tempi c’è da imparare (l’esempio del “Giorno”), benché oggi i grandi quotidiani dedichino importanti supplementi al libri. Ecco un breve affresco fatto di atmosfere, nei ricordi di Vittorio Emiliani ◆ Il corsivetto di VITTORIO EMILIANI► Radio Rai degli anni Cinquanta programmava continuamente sul Terzo canale rubriche letterarie, filosofiche, ecc. Tutte firmate e animate da autentici specialisti, da rinomati docenti universitari, da grandi maestri. Anche da poeti come Giuseppe Ungaretti che vi leggeva con inconfondibile voce le proprie liriche o quelle straniere da lui tradotte.La  nostra acculturazione adolescenziale e giovanile poté giovarsene non poco. Come potemmo fruire delle pagine culturali dei quotidiani. Sul “Giorno” per esempio (il mio giornale personale dal primo giorno di uscita) comparivano schede informatissime sulle novità letterarie e storiografiche firmate da autentici specialisti. Se ne occupavano un toscano ironico e colto, Romeo Giovannini, e Afredo Barberis letterato tranquillo ma con una passione per le Spider veloci. Il “Corriere della Sera” invece era rimasto fermo ad articolesse interminabili. Molto più agile “La Stampa” di Torino che pure era il più vecchio quotidiano nazionale. Sul “Giorno” conobbe i primi successi il vogherese Alberto Arbasino che, formidabile nella misura corta, aveva l’ambizione invece di scrivere lungo e che se ne andò quando osarono tagliargli uno di quei suoi lenzuoli.
