C'è la prevenzione al centro del World Brain Day che si celebra oggi, 22 luglio. La Federazione mondiale di neurologia, assieme a tutte le grandi associazioni di neurologia e neuroriabilitazione a livello globale, ha deciso di evidenziarla come priorità per sensibilizzare non solo i pazienti, ma tutti i cittadini. Avere cura del cervello, avvertono gli esperti, è un compito quotidiano che spetta a ognuno di noi. "La salute del cervello va intesa come un qualcosa che dobbiamo imparare a considerare ogni giorno, coltivandola", afferma Matilde Leonardi, direttore della Struttura complessa di Neurologia, Salute pubblica, Disabilità e del Coma Research Centre della Fondazione Irccs Istituto neurologico Carlo Besta di Milano, e membro del board dell'Accademia europea di neurologia. "Fare prevenzione delle malattie del cervello - spiega la specialista - vuol dire essere consapevoli che una dieta equilibrata, una corretta attività fisica e coltivare le relazioni sociali sono azioni che hanno un ruolo fondamentale nel garantire il benessere del nostro cervello. Se si ha la salute del cervello, si ha salute, e quindi imparare a gestire e prevenire quei fattori che possono portare danno al proprio cervello è un esercizio che ognuno di noi può fare con semplicità.
