L'Isro ha dichiarato che il modulo di propulsione ora "continua il suo viaggio nell'orbita attuale per mesi/anni", come parte degli sforzi per studiare gli esopianeti, o pianeti al di fuori del sistema solare. Gli strumenti a bordo "eseguiranno uno studio spettroscopico dell'atmosfera terrestre e misureranno le variazioni di polarizzazione delle nubi sulla Terra per studiare esopianeti che potrebbero qualificarsi come 'abitabili'".La nazione più popolosa del mondo ha un programma aerospaziale con un budget relativamente basso ma si sta rapidamente avvicinando alle altre potenze spaziali.
