edizione, quest'anno arricchita dalla Coppa Opel a riprova della validità e qualità di questa manifestazione sportiva. Trovo giusto che sia il Veneto ad ospitare questa competizione dedicata alle auto e ai piloti che non hanno fatto solo la storia del rally ma che in realtà hanno scritto la storia dell'automobilismo nel capitolo delicatissimo delle automobili di serie, cioè destinate al mercato, messe a durissima prova e selezione grazie all'abilità di piloti completi ed esperti che sapevano esaltare le doti e qualità di ogni automezzo. La Lancia HF, la Stratos, la Lancia Delta, le Alpine Renault, la Fiat 131 Abarth o anche la A112 Abarth, la Ford Escort e negli anni Novanta la Toyota Celica Turbo o per arrivare più vicini ai nostri giorni alla Volkswagen Polo e le Citroen C4 Wrc e via dicendo. Come dimenticare, tra i piloti, figure come quelle di Sandro Munari, Sebastien Loeb, Colin McRae, Markku Alen?". Con queste parole il Presidente del Consiglio regionale del Veneto Roberto Ciambetti ha introdotto la conferenza stampa di presentazione della terza edizione del Rally del Veneto storico, avvenuto oggi a Palazzo Ferro-Fini."Perché il Veneto è la terra ideale per questo rally? Perché, non dimentichiamolo, il Veneto ospitò la prima automobile circolante nelle strade italiane, la Renault Type 3 guidata da Gaetano Rossi a Piovene Rocchette nel 1893 e fu italiana la prima Presidente di un Club Automobilisti in Italia, la veneziana Elsa degli Albizzi nel 1899, lo stesso anno in cui Elsa partecipò alla corsa automobilistica Padova-Verona-Treviso-Padova giungendo seconda di classe alla guida di una Benz. Insomma, abbiamo le carte in regola per proporci come terra dove l'automobile ha scritto la storia e la mia speranza è che molti appassionati possano non solo vivere momenti emozionanti ma anche trovare motivi per ritornare a visitare in modo approfondito la Lessinia, una terra eccezionale dove si può leggere la storia del nostro pianeta e dell'essere umano"."C'è chi fa risalire l'etimologia del toponimo Lessinia alla luce, a Lux, e la Lessinia per questo sarebbe la terra della Luce, cioè la terra del pascolo ottenuto disboscando: di certo il paesaggio luminoso di questo luogo non a caso è stato definito in alcune pubblicazioni del Cai 'santuario naturale' quasi a enfatizzare la complessità e varietà degli elementi naturali, tra loro amalgamati armoniosamente e per gli aspetti particolari della cultura e delle tradizioni secolari che caratterizzano l'intero territorio.
