Sulla vicendasarebbero ancora in corso accertamenti da parte dei carabinieri.Il dubbio, che si era fatto largo già nell'immediatezza delritrovamento, è che difficilmente un bimbo così piccolo (compiràdue anni tra pochi giorni) può coprire da solo un percorso cosìlungo da solo e senza che nessuno lo noti. Dubbio espresso dalsindaco, Antonio Bufano, che ha partecipato alle ricerche inprima persona, sia dalla famiglia. L'ipotesi, circolata dagiorni e ripresa da alcuni media, è che si possa essere trattatodi un sequestro lampo. Sulla vicenda c'è massimo riserbo daparte della Procura di Bari, mentre , secondo quanto apprendel'ANSA non ci sarebbe alcuna ipotesi rapimento al vaglio degliinquirenti.Lo stesso sindaco, Antonio Bufano aveva dichiarato all'Ansache "i cani molecolari giravano attorno alla casa del piccolo equesto faceva dedurre che fosse lì vicino e non a tre, quattrochilometri da casa". Parole che hanno spinto molti a pensare cheil bambino fosse stato preso da qualcuno che, a causa delclamore mediatico suscitato dalla vicenda e dalla attivitàintesa di ricerca, avrebbe desistito nel suo intento lasciandoloaccanto all'albero.
