(Adnkronos Salute) - La strategia complessiva di controllo della peste suina africana nel Nord Italia "deve essere migliorata. Ogni Regione/Provincia attua le proprie misure con un coordinamento minimo con i vicini". E' il verdetto dell'Eu Veterinary Emergency Team, che ha condotto una missione ad hoc all'inizio di luglio in Lombardia ed Emilia Romagna. Il resoconto della missione, sintetizzato in alcune slide, è stato pubblicato da testate specializzate come Anmvioggi.it (Informazione veterinaria online) il 29 luglio scorso. E' stato successivamente ripreso dai quotidiani ('Il Foglio' ne ha dato conto il primo di agosto) e oggi da alcune agenzie. Per i veterinari Ue "è necessaria una strategia di controllo della malattia coordinata e armonizzata per il Nord Italia, che consideri il complesso della situazione epidemiologica, indipendentemente dai confini amministrativi". Inoltre, "un gruppo di esperti dovrebbe elaborare una strategia comune per la peste suina africana nel Nord Italia, da applicare in modo coordinato in tutte le regioni e province. E' necessaria una strategia comune per il Nord Italia". I veterinari Ue notano che la soluzione per contenere la peste suina non è sterminare i cinghiali, lasciando campo libero alle doppiette: "Per alcune aree all'interno delle zone soggette a restrizioni, con un'elevata densità di suini domestici - osservano - si prevede di ridurre a zero la densità dei cinghiali attraverso misure di caccia". "Ridurre a zero la popolazione dei cinghiali - osservano gli esperti - sembra un obiettivo difficile da raggiungere. Invece, le popolazioni di suini domestici dovrebbero essere protette da buone misure di biosicurezza. La caccia dovrebbe essere utilizzata principalmente per prevenire la diffusione epidemica della peste suina africana. Ciò richiede una strategia di caccia ben ponderata e pianificata, che dovrebbe essere sviluppata e coordinata centralmente da un gruppo di esperti per l'intera area endemica. Poiché le misure di caccia possono anche avere un effetto controproducente e portare alla diffusione della malattia se non coordinate, si consiglia di cacciare solo dove il virus non è ancora arrivato.
