del FriuliVenezia Giulia è aumentata dell'11,7%, passando da 572 unità a639. Gli stranieri sono il 39,9% del totale. Secondo il report"Analisi dei dati relativi a criminalità e sistema penitenziariodel Fvg" diffuso dalla Direzione generale della Regione, il Fvg"si colloca al terzo posto percentuale" fra tutte le regioni persovraffollamento. Un fenomeno "allarmante" che, "in base allastatistiche ufficiali del ministero della Giustizia, è andatoulteriormente aumentando nel 2024, raggiungendo il picco di 711unità al 30 giugno, pari al 146,9%" di presenze, "passando al 31luglio a 678 detenuti, il 140,08%, con una percentuale distranieri del 44,98%". Lo rende noto il garante regionale deidiritti della persona, Paolo Pittaro.Tale statistica, avvisa Pittaro, "deve essere scorporata neisuoi elementi. Il carcere di Tolmezzo, di massima sicurezza, èpressoché in parità (150 detenuti su una capienza di 149),quello di Gorizia presenta un sovraffollamento del 139,6% (74 su53), quello di Pordenone del 151,35% (56 su 37), la casacircondariale di Trieste del 152,6% (229 su 150) e quella diUdine del 177,89 % (169 su 95), dati che fanno mantenere ilterzo posto al Fvg a livello nazionale, dopo la Puglia e laLombardia; il relativo dato nazionale assomma 61.133 unità suuna capienza di 51.207, pari al 119,38%"."Che la situazione sia intollerabile - sottolinea il garanteFvg - specie con la particolare calura dei mesi estivi, èevidente: donde varie proteste e parziali rivolte in variistituti carcerari sui 189 esistenti (nel Fvg quella di Triestenella serata dell'11 luglio) e con un numero consistente disuicidi: alla data attuale, dall'inizio dell'anno ben 62detenuti (nessuno nella nostra regione) e 6 agenti della poliziapenitenziaria".
