È la principale sfida del Drone Contest di Leonardo, svoltosi anche quest'anno a Torino. Ad aggiudicarsi la vittoria di questa seconda edizione, prima tappa di un ciclo di sfide che si concluderà nel 2025, il team della Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa.L'approccio collaborativo tra piattaforme costituisce l'elemento chiave di un sistema combinato nuovo in grado di migliorare significativamente la consapevolezza dello scenario in cui si opera, di accelerare il processo decisionale, riducendo i tempi d'intervento in caso d'emergenza, grazie a maggiore efficacia ed efficienza operativa. Si tratta di soluzioni che potranno trovare applicazioni in contesti complessi, quali ad esempio l'ispezione di aree soggette a disastri naturali, ma potranno servire anche per fare sopralluoghi in siti difficilmente accessibili con altri mezzi o da personale dei servizi di soccorso e per generiche attività di sorveglianza in zone a rischio. Il coinvolgimento delle competenze di Leonardo nel campo delle piattaforme (elicotteri e velivoli) testimonia altresì l'interesse di importare in un futuro prossimo parte delle logiche sviluppate in scenari sperimentali su scala più ampia.Oltre a promuovere lo sviluppo dell'IA applicata ai droni (aerei e terrestri), l'evento - ideato da Leonardo in collaborazione con sette atenei italiani - ha lo scopo di favorire la creazione di un sistema di esperti nazionali, capace di mettere assieme le capacità tecnologiche di grandi aziende, atenei, PMI, spin-off e start-up nazionali.
