Kennedy come primo candidato astronauta nero degli Stati Uniti ma non aveva mai avuto l'opportunità concreta di volare nello Spazio. Un desiderio realizzato oltre 60 anni dopo, all'età di 90 e 8 mesi anni, grazie al finanziamento dell'associazione Space for Humanity che ha permesso a Dwight di diventare l'uomo più anziano della storia ad aver volato nello Spazio, superando l'attore William Shatner, il capitano Kirk di Star Trek che pure aveva volato con Blue Origin nel 2021.Questo volo, l'Ns-25 è stato particolarmente importante per la Blue Origin, dopo lo stop forzato dovuto a un problema al motore del New Shepard che nel 2022, durante un volo senza equipaggio, aveva subito un cedimento strutturale.
