Ma “La zona di interesse”, del britannico Jonathan Glazer, è un film da non perdere, capace di raccontare gli abissi dell’Olocausto da un punto di vista originale, dove la violenza non si vede ma è sempre presente come rumore di fondo in una stupenda e disturbante colonna sonora.La zona di interesse era la “Interessengebiet”, il perimetro che circondava Auschwitz. Un alto muro separava la villa dal campo, ma non fermava le grida dei guardiani e dei deportati, il rumore dei forni perennemente in funzione, e, quando il vento girava, le ceneri che uscivano dalle ciminiere. Con metodica efficienza Höss, un ottimo Christian Friedel, sovrintendeva allo sterminio, discuteva con i tecnici per migliorare le camere a gas e i forni, trattava con gli industriali che sfruttavano il lavoro coatto. La moglie Hedwig, interpretata da una strepitosa Sandra Hüller, lo assecondava in tutto, e si dedicava a far crescere “sani e forti” i figli in una casa che rappresentava il coronamento del sogno della sua vita piccolo borghese, e che non abbandonò neppure quando il marito venne destinato per un breve periodo ad un altro incarico. Lasciati liberi di improvvisare grazie a numerose telecamere fisse che non interferivano con i loro comportamenti, gli attori sono riusciti a dare vita a una perfetta e per molti versi intollerabile rappresentazione di quella che la filosofa Hannah Arendt chiamava la “banalità del male”: persone comuni che in particolari contesti storici e sociali possono diventare complici delle più efferate crudeltà.
