e consegnato a Papa Francesco."Anche dalla Chiesa si apre ora uno spazio di riflessione sulla possibilità di mediazioni giuridiche in materia di fine vita e suicidio assistito, in una società pluralista e democratica che oggi presenta un vulnus normativo su questo tema. Possiamo affermare che si tratta di un segnale significativo proveniente dal Vaticano. È fondamentale che venga approvata una legge che rispetti le diverse posizioni; un intervento legislativo deve essere richiesto da tutti coloro che desiderano che il fine vita sia normato per legge, e non gestito, come avviene attualmente, attraverso una sentenza," aggiunge il Presidente Zaia. "Oggi, infatti, in virtù della nota sentenza della Corte Costituzionale del 2019, un cittadino è già padrone di decidere il proprio fine vita, purché abbia una malattia con prognosi infausta, soffra intensamente, sia libero nella scelta e dipenda da supporti vitali. Tuttavia, la sentenza non stabilisce né le tempistiche né le modalità, e non legittima la gestione dell'assistenza ai pazienti da parte delle strutture sanitarie, che si affidano alle scelte volontarie di medici e infermieri. È importante che anche chi dubita dell'efficacia di una gestione senza una legge chiara, con precise indicazioni sul fine vita, o teme che si possa spingere un malato terminale a scegliere il fine vita sotto pressioni esterne, richieda una normativa che garantisca una protezione rigorosa e tuteli la libertà di scelta del paziente fino in fondo. Infine, chi è contrario alla libera scelta sul fine vita dovrebbe chiedere una legge per impedirne la pratica. In sintesi, serve un dibattito serio e una legge, quali che siano le conclusioni. Questo rappresenta un passo avanti in termini di civiltà," secondo il Presidente della Regione Veneto."L'apertura lungimirante del Vaticano su questo tema, che tocca un aspetto etico profondo, riflette la complessità del contesto sanitario odierno, in cui le cure sono così avanzate da sollevare inevitabilmente questioni etiche. È importante sottolineare che, almeno in Veneto, i casi di richiesta del fine vita non sono motivati dalla mancanza di cure palliative, che rappresentano la prima scelta e una priorità nella nostra regione, dove siamo leader in questo ambito. Tuttavia, non si può ignorare che alcuni pazienti che si avvicinano al fine vita rifiutano le cure palliative per motivi personali e intimi, una scelta che abbiamo l'obbligo di rispettare. Ricordiamo che, oltre alla sentenza della Corte Costituzionale, nel 2017 il nostro Paese si è dotato delle disposizioni anticipate di trattamento, che vanno nella stessa direzione.
