A ottantotto anni la mano felice del regista nella ricostruzione degli insulsi dialoghi tra i personaggi non compensa il bisogno di dover lavorare ad ogni costo per fronteggiare i molti impegni economici e famigliari della sua turbolenta vita sentimentale. Autore e sceneggiatore del suo cinquantesimo film, Woody Allen per la prima volta gira in francese e gli attori non sono di primissimo piano, né recitano in modo particolarmente brillante ◆ La recensione di BATTISTA GARDONCINI *► Molti critici hanno parlato con entusiasmo di un’opera che indaga con ironia le dinamiche di coppia, il rapporto tra sentimenti e razionalità, e il ruolo del caso nella vita di ognuno di noi. A me “Un colpo di fortuna”, il cinquantesimo film diretto da Woody Allen – e anche il primo girato in francese – è sembrato semplicemente un film inutile, e in alcune parti un po’ noioso. Una storia che non decolla neppure nel finale, sorprendente, ma anche molto raffazzonato. E purtroppo questa è una costante nelle ultime fatiche di  un regista di ottantotto anni, che è stato un mito per la nostra generazione, ma ha anche dichiarato di dover continuare a lavorare per fronteggiare i suoi molti impegni economici e famigliari.Jean e Fanny sono una coppia spensierata, ricca e apparentemente felice. Lei incontra per caso in strada un ex compagno di scuola, uno scrittore squattrinato giunto a Parigi in cerca di ispirazione, e rimette tutto in discussione. Con l’aiuto di un detective Jean scopre la relazione e medita vendetta, ma la madre di lei si accorge che qualcosa non va. Woody si è avvalso di un gruppo di attori francesi non di primissimo piano, e non particolarmente brillanti. Melvin Poupaud è il tenebroso marito che stempera le tensioni giocando con un meraviglioso trenino Märklin. Lou de Laâge è una Fanny generosa nel dispensare baci e moine a marito e amante, ma ben lontana dalla presenza scenica di altre muse del regista. Valérie Lemercier è la madre, soltanto apparentemente svagata. Niels Schneider è l’insipido amante.Woody Allen è anche l’autore del soggetto e della sceneggiatura, e ha ancora una mano felice nella ricostruzione degli insulsi dialoghi tra i personaggi, tutti ricchi, gaudenti e perennemente impegnati in feste e partite di caccia.
