Dev'essere memoria viva che alimenta consapevolezza e impegno verso ideali di libertà, di giustizia e di equità che troppo spesso consideriamo consolidati e inespugnabili. Il 27 gennaio, data dell'abbattimento dei cancelli di Auschwitz, sia per noi tutti un momento di riflessione e di impegno per ricordare la Shoah, le leggi razziali, la persecuzione italiana dei cittadini ebrei, gli italiani che hanno subìto la deportazione, la prigionia, la morte, nonché coloro che, anche in campi e schieramenti diversi, si sono opposti al progetto di sterminio e, a rischio della propria vita, hanno salvato altre vite e protetto i perseguitati. Dobbiamo ricordare per imprimere nella memoria collettiva degli italiani quel tragico e oscuro periodo della storia nel nostro Paese e in Europa e affinché simili eventi non possano mai più accadere".
