"Se approvato, lenacapavir rappresenterebbe la prima e unica PrEp somministrabile 2 volte l'anno", sottolinea in una nota Gilead, impegnandosi a "dare priorità a un accesso rapido" al farmaco "e ad attivare percorsi efficienti volti all'approvazione di lenacapavir per la PrEP nei Paesi ad alta incidenza" di infezione da Hiv "e con risorse limitate". Il trial Purpose 1, di fase 3, ha coinvolto 5.345 donne di età compresa tra 16 e 26 anni in 25 centri del Sud Africa e in 3 centri dell'Uganda.
