(askanews) - Gli astronauti della missione Artemis II che riporterà il genere umano in orbita lunare, dopo l'ultima missione Apollo nel 1972, si stanno addestrando al largo della California al loro recupero in mare, dopo lo splashdown della capsula Orion.Attualmente pianificata per il 2025, Artemis II sarà la seconda tappa di avvicinamento al ritorno dell'uomo sulla Luna. Come già accaduto con la missione Artemis I nel 2022, non è previsto un allunaggio vero e proprio ma solo l'inserimento della capsula in orbita lunare e poi il ritorno sulla Terra, solo che questa volta, a bordo, ci sarà un equipaggio umano, composto dal comandante Reid Wiseman e dagli astronauti, Christina Koch e David Walton, della Nasa e Jeremy Hansen, dell'Agenzia spaziale canadese. "Questo è il nostro obiettivo - ha spiegato il comandante Wiseman - uscire ed esplorare il nostro sistema solare, come fanno gli umani. Vogliamo sapere cosa c'è 'dietro l'angolo'. E siamo entusiasti di essere il primo equipaggio in oltre 50 anni ad andare sulla Luna e tornare. 250.000 miglia all'andata e 250.000 miglia al ritorno"."Saranno fondamentali le condizioni meteo - ha aggiunto David Walton, il Capitano della nave che si occupa del recupero - una volta che questa missione sarà decollata, passeranno dieci giorni e la capsula rientrerà sulla Terra.
