(askanews) - Per la prima volta in Italia, mercoledì 20 dicembre 2023, un velivolo a pilotaggio remoto (APR) MQ-9 Predator B del 32esimo Stormo di Foggia-Amendola dell'Aeronautica Militare ha volato lungo una rotta normalmente dedicata al traffico aereo, per così dire, tradizionale cioè quello riservato agli aerei di linea o commerciali con piloti a bordo.Nel caso degli APR infatti, il pilota e l'operatore di sistemi non sono nella cabina di pilotaggio ma in una Ground control station che si trova a terra, a centinaia o anche migliaia di Km di distanza dalla posizione effettiva del velivolo.Per l'occasione, il volo è stato gestitito da Controllori del Traffico Aereo militari, in sinergia con l'Enac (Ente nazionale aviazione civile) e il supporto operativo dell'Enav (Ente nazionale assistenza al volo). Il Generale di Brigata Luca Baione, Capo dell'ufficio per l'Aviazione militare e la Meteorologia dell'Aeronautica Militare."L'Italia - ha spiegato - è uno dei primi Paesi in Europa a fare questa sperimentazione che, in ambito nazionale è del tutto innovativa ed è la prima volta che si verifica qualcosa del genere. Questo consentirà agli aeromobili dell'aviazione commerciale di attraversare quegli spazi aerei che una volta invece venivano segregati per l'uso da parte degli aeromobili a pilotaggio remoto e consentirà all'aviazione civile delle rotte più brevi, con conseguente abbattimento dell'emissione di CO2".La sperimentazione fa da apripista a futuri protocolli di coordinamento civile-militare tra l'Aeronautica Militare e l'ENAV per una maggiore integrazione nello spazio aereo nazionale degli APR che, quindi, potranno essere impiegati per un più ampio ventaglio di missioni, anche per scopi sanitari o di protezione civile.Il Colonnello Alessandro D'Annibale è il Comandante del Servizio di Coordinamento e Controllo dell'Aeronautica Militare (SCCAM) di Ciampino."Questo rappresenta un passo in avanti fondamentale per quella che sarà poi l'evoluzione, regolamentare e normativa, di come questi 'asset' dal potenziale militare e, aggiungerei anche civile, inimmaginabile potrà avere nel futuro".
