(askanews) - Entra nel vivo la missione Axiom-3, terza missione commerciale sulla Stazione spaziale internazionale; la prima con un equipaggio tutto di origini europee di cui fa parte anche l'astronauta italiano Walter Villadei, Colonnello dell'Aeronautica Militare che sarà il pilota della navetta Crew Dragon di Space X. Il lancio della Ax-3 è previsto dalla base Nasa di Cape Canaveral, in Florida a gennaio 2024. Nell'equipaggio, ai comandi dell'ex astronauta Nasa Michael Lopez-Alegrìa di origini spagnole, ci sono anche gli specialisti di missione, Alper Gezeravci , primo astronauta turco della storia e l'astronauta svedese dell'Esa, Marcus Wandt.Con questa missione, l'Italia si prepara a inaugurare un nuovo capitolo nell'era delle missioni spaziali commerciali anche per scopi di Difesa."È un grande privilegio e un grande onore essere il pilota della missione Ax-3 - ha detto Villadei in conferenza stampa - e voglio ringraziare l'Aeronautica Militare e il mio Paese per avermi concesso l'incredibile opportunità di unirmi a questo straordinaria impresa che è un pilastro fondamentale della nostra strategia nazionale in campo aerospaziale.
