Vietnamcentro-meridionale di Binh Thuan, è stato scoperto un nidocontenente 78 uova di tartaruga marina, potenzialmenteappartenente alla rara specie di tartaruga embricata.Come si legge su Vietnam News, l'area è nota per le diversefonti di cibo per le tartarughe marine, che però non hannodeposto uova nonostante abbiano visitato la zona sia nel 2022che nel 2023. La stagione della nidificazione si verifica ogni anno tra maggioe ottobre, periodo nel quale il personale del parco e ivolontari pattugliano regolarmente i siti di nidificazione pergarantire la massima sicurezza delle tartarughe.L'area marina protetta si estende su circa 12.500 ettari e vantaun ecosistema diversificato, che comprende barriere coralline epraterie di fanerogame marine, e serve da habitat e luogo dinidificazione per molte specie marine rare e di grande valoreeconomico ed ecologico. Dal 2014, centinaia di volontari hannoprotetto con successo numerosi nidi di tartaruga, assicurando laschiusa e il rilascio in mare di migliaia di piccoli.
