(Adnkronos Salute) - “Contenzioso medico legale, turni massacranti, formazione insufficiente, scarso riconoscimento economico: le Istituzioni nazionali e regionali devono farsi carico del problema dei giovani che non scelgono più le specializzazioni in chirurgia. Se nel 2023 quasi il 55% delle borse di studio per la specializzazione in Chirurgia generale non è stato assegnato, significa che c’è un problema enorme in questo Paese: tra qualche anno, non tra decenni, le sale operatorie chiuderanno per assenza di chirurghi. Un’assenza evidentemente voluta da qualcuno, non scelta dai nostri ragazzi. Perché un sistema che non si preoccupa dello scenario attuale, delle difficoltà che contornano chi sceglie questa professione, è un sistema destinato a fallire. E fallirà perché i giovani sceglieranno altre branche della medicina, oppure lavoreranno nel privato o, peggio, andranno all’estero mentre noi, già oggi, passiamo il tempo a reclutare personale sanitario dall’estero. Tutto questo è paradossale". Lo afferma il neo-presidente dell’Associazione chirurghi ospedalieri italiani (Acoi), Vincenzo Bottino, annunciando in una nota la richiesta di incontri, dalla prossima settimana, al presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni e a tutti i presidenti di Regione. "Vogliamo chiarire a chi governa il Paese - sottolinea - che le scelte che verranno fatte oggi incideranno violentemente sulla vita delle persone. Se le cose continueranno così i cittadini di molte regioni italiane si troveranno tra pochi anni di fronte a sale operatorie chiuse".L’Acoi, "la più grande società scientifica di chirurgia ospedaliera italiana, ovviamente farà come sempre la sua parte - chiosa Bottino - già dal prossimo autunno costruiremo appuntamenti di confronto, formativi, di sensibilizzazione verso gli studenti, verso le associazioni dei pazienti e verso le Istituzioni per far comprendere il rischio reale che sta correndo il Servizio sanitario nazionale ma anche per ringraziare i giovani chirurghi per il coraggio, l’abnegazione, per il senso che danno alla nostra professione, cioè salvare vite umane.
