Oggi il beach tennis continua a spopolare d'estare con attrezzi sempre più performanti. Ma spesso serve essere allenati ai movimenti sulla sabbia. "Secondo una recente ricerca condotta su circa 200 giocatori di beach tennis l'incidenza degli infortuni nel BT è pari a 1,81 per 1000 ore di gioco. Gli infortuni da sovraccarico erano maggiormente frequenti a livello dell'arto superiore (tendinopatia della spalla e del gomito), mentre gli infortuni acuti erano più frequenti a livello dell'arto inferiore era il sito di più infortuni acuti (muscoli della coscia e legamenti dell'alluce e della caviglia)". Così Andrea Bernetti, vice presidente della Società italiana di medicina fisica e riabilitativa (Simfer), fa il punto per l'Adnkronos Salute sui rischi dei 'crack' legati al beach tennis, secondo di 3 focus sugli sport da spiaggia più diffusi in estate. "Poiché il beach tennis prevede generalmente molti movimenti con l'arto che impugna la racchetta in elevazione inclusi il servizio, le mosse difensive e gli attacchi, questo potrebbe spiegare la maggiore incidenza di infortuni a livello della cuffia dei rotatori. Inoltre, muoversi sulla sabbia richiede più energia a causa del lavoro meccanico maggiore e alla minore efficacia del lavoro muscolare - prosegue Bernetti - I giocatori modificano le posizioni delle articolazioni e i movimenti per adattarsi alla sabbia e per eseguire i colpi richiesti. Ad esempio nel salto è più difficile per la caviglia spingere il corpo verticalmente. Sono in pratica richiesti maggiori carichi articolari e muscolari sulla sabbia per produrre più potenza utile. Questo può spiegare in parte gli infortuni da sovraccarico a carico del rachide lombare". Un'ulteriore differenza sottolineata nello studio, "è quella tra giocatori agonisti e amatoriali, generalmente gli atleti agonisti hanno una quantità simile di infortuni acuti e cronici, i giocatori amatoriali hanno invece principalmente infortuni cronici, che costituiscono il 61,1% degli infortuni.
