(Adnkronos Salute) - "Nonostante i progressi compiuti per ridurre i casi di Hiv e le morti legate all'Aids fra i bambini", per liberarli dalla malattia entro il 2030 "è urgente ampliare i servizi per l'Hiv nei Paesi maggiormente colpiti dalla pandemia". L'appello arriva con il rapporto 'Transforming Vision Into Reality' di Unicef e Alleanza globale per porre fine all'Aids nei bambini entro il 2023 (lanciata nel 2022 dall'agenzia Onu per l'infanzia e dall'Organizzazione mondiale della sanità). Report dal quale emerge che nel 2023, a livello globale, circa 120mila under 14 sono stati contagiati dal virus dell'Aids e 76mila sono morti, di cui 49mila nei 12 Paesi dell'Alleanza globale. I programmi che mirano a interrompere la trasmissione verticale (madre-figlio) dell'Hiv - indica il rapporto - dal 2000 hanno evitato 4 milioni di casi di Hiv nella fascia 0-14 anni. A livello globale, i nuovi Hiv-positivi under 14 sono diminuiti del 38% dal 2015 e le morti legate all'Aids sono scese del 43%. Fra i Paesi dell'Alleanza globale, molti hanno raggiunto una forte copertura della terapia antiretrovirale a vita nelle donne in gravidanza e allattamento che vivono con l'Hiv: l'Uganda quasi il 100%, la Repubblica Unita della Tanzania il 98%, il Sud Africa il 97%; il Mozambico ha raggiunto come lo Zambia una copertura del 90%, l'Angola e il Kenya l'89%, lo Zimbabwe l'88% e la Costa d'Avorio l'84%. "I Paesi dell'Alleanza Globale - osserva l'Unicef in una nota - stanno innovando per superare le barriere e accelerare i progressi verso la fine dell'Aids nei bambini. Tuttavia, nonostante i progressi, né il mondo né i Paesi dell'Alleanza globale sono attualmente sulla buona strada per raggiungere gli impegni relativi all'Hiv per i bambini e gli adolescenti, e il ritmo dei progressi nella prevenzione dei nuovi casi di Hiv e dei decessi legati all'Aids tra i bambini è rallentato negli ultimi anni". Inoltre, "i tassi di trasmissione verticale rimangono estremamente elevati in alcune località, in particolare nell'Africa occidentale e centrale, superiori al 20% in Paesi come la Nigeria e la Repubblica Democratica del Congo". Ed "è preoccupante che il divario di trattamento tra adulti e bambini continui ad aumentare". "Solo il 57% dei bambini che vivono con l'Hiv riceve un trattamento salvavita, rispetto al 77% degli adulti - afferma Anurita Bains, direttrice associata Hiv/Aids dell'Unicef - Senza test e cure precoci ed efficaci, l'Hiv rimane una minaccia persistente per la salute e il benessere di bambini e adolescenti e li espone al rischio di morte. Per colmare il divario terapeutico, dobbiamo sostenere i governi a diffondere approcci di test innovativi e garantire che i bambini e gli adolescenti colpiti da Hiv ricevano il trattamento e il sostegno di cui hanno bisogno". Il report evidenzia poi una 'questione femminile'. Nel 2023 ci sono stati 210mila nuovi casi di Hiv a livello globale fra le ragazze e le donne dai 15 ai 24 anni (130mila nei paesi dell'Alleanza globale), 4 volte superiori all'obiettivo del 2025, fissato a 50mila. "Prevenire i nuovi contagi in questa fascia d'età è fondamentale, sia per proteggere la salute e il benessere delle giovani donne sia per ridurre il rischio di nuovi casi tra i bambini", avverte l'Unicef. "Le disuguaglianze di genere e le violazioni dei diritti umani - rimarca l'agenzia - stanno incrementando la vulnerabilità delle donne all'Hiv e riducendo la loro capacità di accedere a servizi di base. A livello globale, quasi una donna su 3 ha subito una qualche forma di violenza durante la vita, e le ragazze adolescenti e le giovani donne sono colpite in modo sproporzionato dalla violenza da parte dei partner.
