(askanews) - Il premio Nobel per la Fisica 2023 è andato - ex aequo - a tre scienziati: Pierre Agostini (della Ohio State University, di Columbus, negli Stati Uniti), Ferenc Krausz (del Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, in Germania)e Anne L'Huillier (della Lund University, in Svezia) per i "metodi sperimentali che generano impulsi di luce di attosecondi per lo studio della dinamica degli elettroni nella materia".I tre Premi Nobel per la Fisica 2023, ha spiegato L'Accademia reale svedese delle Scienze, sono stati premiati per i loro esperimenti che hanno fornito all'umanità nuovi strumenti per esplorare il mondo degli elettroni all'interno di atomi e molecole. "Pierre Agostini,Ferenc Krausz e Anne L'Huillier hanno dimostrato un modo per creare impulsi di luce estremamente brevi che possono essere utilizzati per misurare i rapidi processi in cui gli elettroni si muovono o cambiano energia".Gli esperimenti dei vincitori, iniziati alla fine degli anni '80, hanno prodotto impulsi di luce così brevi da essere misurati in attosecondi - un attosecondo corrisponde a un trilionesimo di secondo - permettendo di studiare processi così rapidi che prima era impossibile seguire: nell'elettronica, per esempio, è importante capire e controllare il comportamento degli elettroni in un materiale.
