pezzi. Ma il tarlo di Goldbach continua ad ossessionarla… Purtroppo raccontare per immagini la matematica non è mai facile e onore ad Anna Novion, per il coraggio di averci almeno provato ◆ La recensione di BATTISTA GARDONCINI *► Interessante l’idea di partenza e molto brava la protagonista, la svizzera Ella Rumpf, che per la sua interpretazione ha vinto il premio César come migliore rivelazione femminile. Ma “Il teorema di Margherita”, della regista francese Anna Novion, non è un film pienamente riuscito, e il finale scontato lo penalizza. Margherita è una geniale studentessa di matematica dell’École normale Supérieure, incapace di avere relazioni normali con professori e compagni. Affascinata dalla irrisolta congettura di Goldbach, è convinta di avere trovato un metodo che potrebbe portare alla sua dimostrazione, ma alla prova dei fatti fallisce e il suo mondo costruito esclusivamente sulla logica va in pezzi. Contro il parere di tutti, decide di ritirarsi dalla scuola, si ritrova piena di debiti, ed è costretta a cercare lavori dequalificati da cui si fa regolarmente cacciare. Poi capisce che può sfruttare in modo “creativo” le sue doti matematiche, va a ballare e scopre il sesso. Ma il tarlo di Goldbach continua ad ossessionarla.La prima parte del film è asciutta ed efficace. La seconda, costruita sulla metamorfosi del personaggio e sul ritorno della matematica nella sua vita, lo è meno. Banali, ad esempio, sono le lunghe scene che vedono la protagonista impegnata a ricoprire di astruse formule non soltanto i fogli e le lavagne, ma anche le finestre, gli specchi e perfino i muri del miniappartamento che condivide con un’amica. Non ho le competenze matematiche per giudicare la verosimiglianza delle formule e dei dialoghi tra Margherita e il suo compagno di studi. Ma scene analoghe – e sicuramente più coinvolgenti – si sono viste in altri film simili, come “Il diritto di contare” di Theodore Melfi, dedicato alla studiosa di colore che contribuì ai primi voli spaziali americani.
