La leader dell'opposizione, Maria Corina Machado, che ha detto di vivere nascosta per timore della sua vita, ha arringato la piazza: "Non siamo mai stati così forti come oggi e il regime non è mai stato così debole".Lo sfidante di Maduro, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, è stato riconosciuto presidente eletto dagli Stati Uniti e da diversi paesi dell'America Latina.
