(askanews) - La Axiom Space ha confermato la data di lancio della missione spaziale commerciale AX-3 con a bordo l'astronauta italiano Walter Villadei, Colonnello dell'Aeronautica Militare; partirà con una navetta Crew Dragon di Space X, nella notte italiana del 10 gennaio 2024 (le 21 del 9 gennaio in Florida negli Stati Uniti) dalla base Nasa di Cape Canaveral.Il docking con la Iss è previsto per le 11.15 italiane dell'11 gennaio.A bordo della Crew Dragon, un equipaggio totalmente europeo; Villadei sarà il pilota della navetta; con lui ci saranno il comandante di origini spagnole, Michael Lopez-Alegria e gli specialisti di missione, Alper Gezeravci, primo astronauta turco della storia e Marcus Wandt, astronauta svedese dell'Agenzia Spaziale Europea (Esa).Villadei prende parte, per conto del Ministero della Difesa, alla prima missione spaziale commerciale del nostro Paese sulla Stazione Spaziale Internazionale, della durata di circa 2 settimane, per svolgere diversi esperimenti scientifici, anche in collaborazione con l'Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (Asi) e di monitoraggio di oggetti spaziali con la valutazione di possibili eventi di collisione tra questi ma non solo, come ha spiegato ad askanews il Colonnello Valerio Anastasi, dell'Ufficio Generale per lo Spazio dell'Aeronautica Militare.
