Dopo un'analisi approfondita dei dati, la United Launch Alliance (Ula) ha deciso di sostituire la valvola di regolazione della pressione nel serbatoio dell'ossigeno liquido dello stadio superiore Centaur del suo lanciatore Atlas V, la cui avaria ha comportato il rinvio di lunedì 6 maggio. Dopo la riparazione nella struttura di integrazione verticale della base spaziale di Cape Canaveral in Florida (Usa), verranno eseguiti tutti i test di tenuta e le verifiche funzionali in vista del prossimo tentativo di lancio.Il problema alla valvola, durante le operazioni di prelancio, aveva convinto il team di supporto ad annullare la partenza quando i due astronauti veterani della Nasa, Butch Wilmore e Suni Williams erano già a bordo della navetta, allo Space Launch Complex-41 che hanno prontamente abbandonato.
