svolge nel 1755 in Danimarca, nella brughiera ostile dello Jutland concessa dal re a un capitano del suo esercito dopo venticinque anni di onorato servizio. Tra violenze, soprusi e scontri all’ultimo sangue, il film ha una ambientazione intrigante che si lascia guardare per due ore senza annoiare ◆ La recensione di BATTISTA GARDONCINI *► Un polpettone fatto bene, con tutti gli ingredienti al posto giusto, ottimi attori e una ambientazione intrigante, è quello che ci vuole per una serata senza troppi pensieri. E “La terra promessa”, del regista danese Nicolaj Arvel, lo è. Siamo nel 1755 in Danimarca. Mads Mikkelsen è il capitano Ludwig Kahlen, che dopo venticinque anni di onorato servizio nell’esercito ottiene dal re il diritto di dissodare una brughiera nello Jutland, per far fruttare una terra ostile dove scorrazzano bande di malfattori e nessuno è mai riuscito a far crescere niente.Ma Kahlen è un tipo tosto, deciso a tutto per riscattare le sue umili origini, ricordate dal titolo originale del film, “Bastarden”. Nell’impresa è aiutato da una coppia di contadini in fuga dal signorotto locale, e da un’orfana dalla pelle scura, che tutti maltrattano perché ritenuta una strega. Ben presto, però entra in conflitto con il nobile, interpretato con la giusta vena di follia dall’attore danese Simon Bennebierg, che approfitta del suo incarico di magistrato per vantare inesistenti diritti su tutta la brughiera. Seguono violenze, soprusi e scontri all’ultimo sangue, mentre il cattivone dimostra tutta la sua efferatezza inventando crudeli torture con l’acqua bollente per i malcapitati che lo intralciano. Il re, unico legittimo proprietario della brughiera, è interessato alla sua colonizzazione, ma è lontano e i cortigiani non lo informano di quello che sta accadendo. Kahlen deve cavarsela da solo, con l’appoggio della moglie del contadino, interpretata dall’affascinante attrice danese Amanda Collin, e della contessina Edel Helene, promessa sposa del signorotto, che ha il volto dell’attrice norvegese Kristine Kujath Thorp.
