L'Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato ha deciso la sanzione per tre società del gruppo Bytedance Ltd: l'irlandese TikTok Technology Limited, la britannica TikTok Information Technologies UK Limited e l'italiana TikTok Italy Srl.Secondo l'Antitrust è stata accertata la responsabilità di TikTok nella diffusione di "contenuti suscettibili di minacciare la sicurezza psico-fisica degli utenti, specialmente se minori e vulnerabili", come quelli relativi ad alcune challenge. Inoltre, TikTok non avrebbe "assunto misure adeguate a evitare la diffusione di tali contenuti, non rispettando pienamente le sue linee guida", rese anche note ai consumatori, dove si definisce la piattaforma uno spazio "sicuro".Infine si denuncia che i contenuti - pur essendo potenzialmente pericolosi - sono diffusi tramite un "sistema di raccomandazione" basato sulla profilazione algoritmica degli utenti che seleziona quali video destinare a ciascuno nelle sezioni "Per Te" e "Seguiti", con l'obiettivo di aumentare le interazioni e il tempo passato sulla piattaforma, così da accrescere la redditività degli introiti pubblicitari.Una sanzione utile, commenta il Codacons, ma che "rappresenta una goccia nel mare, considerati i contenuti che circolano oggi sui social network e possono fortemente condizionare i più giovani". Per l'Unione Nazionale Consumatori "i minori e i soggetti vulnerabili vanno sempre protetti.
