cartongesso uno degli elementi più richiesti e utilizzati in edilizia. Tra i principali ambiti di applicazione, il cartongesso è particolarmente utilizzato nella partizione interna degli ambienti, nella controsoffittatura ed anche per nascondere elementi a vista di impianti come quello elettrico. Il cartongesso è costituito da una parte centrale in gesso racchiusa da due strati di cartone ed è disponibile sul mercato in lastre o pannelli, i più utilizzati hanno spessore 12-13 mm, che vengono fissati tramite fissaggi meccanici e non con l’uso di leganti idraulici. Le lastre e i pannelli di cartongesso possono essere abbinati ad altri materiali a seconda delle caratteristiche che si vogliono ottenere una volta posati, ad esempio con materiali isolanti per aumentare il grado di isolamento termico o acustico o, ancora, con altri componenti per incrementare la resistenza meccanica o all’umidità. Proprio la ridotta resistenza meccanica è uno degli aspetti negativi del cartongesso che per tale motivo può essere danneggiato in caso di sollecitazione eccessiva e dunque non è adatto per pareti o controsoffitti dove si intende appendere arredi o complementi d’illuminazione di un certo peso e volume. Il progresso nei materiali e nelle tipologie di lavorazione oggi permette anche di realizzare cartongesso flessibile grazie a lastre di spessore ridotto dotate di particolari caratteristiche di flessibilità per poter realizzare superfici curve. Inoltre, esiste anche un cartongesso per esterni che prevede lastre realizzate con cemento alleggerito per realizzare strutture all’aperto. In aggiunta alle caratteristiche di cui sopra, il cartongesso rappresenta una scelta sostenibile in quanto composto da materiali naturali e dunque può avere un ruolo importante nell’applicazione delle tecniche di bioedilizia.
