Al suo funerale i vecchi compagni commentarono negativamente il fatto che il loro Andreino venisse esposto con una fascia che ne dichiarava l’appartenenza alla Massoneria. Un primo passo era stato fatto e però tanti altri avrebbero dovuto seguire, e invece la svolta squadrista e il ventennio fascista ne impedirono il lineare sviluppo democratico.Andrea Costa ispirò certo gli alti ideali che furono alla base dell’antifascismo e più tardi della Resistenza dalla quale nascono la Assemblea Costituente e la stessa Costituzione repubblicana.
