(askanews) - Volge al termine la missione spaziale commerciale AX-3 della società privata americana Axiom Space con il Colonnello dell'Aeronautica Militare Walter Villdei, al quale la Difesa italiana ha affidato la missione "Voluntas", prima esperienza italiana nell'ambito dei voli spaziali commerciali che rappresentano una nuova frontiera - di ricerca ed economica - della cosiddetta new space economy.Dopo un breve rinvio per le avverse condizioni meteo, Axiom Space e Space X hanno fatto sapere che il distacco della navetta Crew Dragon dalla Iss e il successivo rientro sulla Terra dell'equipaggio, tutto europeo, della Axiom-3 è schedulato a partire dalle 9. 05 (Eastern Time, le 15.05 ora italiana) del 6 febbraio 2024."Vorrei ringraziare innanzitutto l'Aeronautica Militare e il governo italiano - ha detto Villadei - per aver creduto in questa missione.
